2020

One Eastbourne launched to make make it easy for local independent retailers to sell online

3D printed over 1,200 face shields for local NHS and care staff

Making badges and mugs to raise money for face shield printing efforts

Set up a Discord server to support local teens

Contributed to the Eastbourne cross sector COVID-19 and recovery teams

Advised Adur & Worthing Councils on the launch of a coding and making space at Colonnade House

 

2019

Piloted and rolled out support for EU citizens applying for Settled Status. Trained other volunteers to do the same across Lewes, Newhaven, Seaford and Peacehaven

Ran coding and making taster sessions for young people in Hastings

2018

Won Heritage Lottery Funding to help explain Eastbourne’s Wish Tower to visitors

2017

Supported East Sussex Libraries to run coding and making sessions

Moved our HQ to East Sussex College in Eastbourne

 

2015 and 2016

Thanks to Coastal Communities funding we were able to help all sectors of the community:

  • Created 20 new full time local tech and digital jobs, and safeguarded 8 existing jobs
  • Secured pledges of £1.5m to bid for an office building to convert into a tech space (sadly we were outbid!)
  • Opened a new HQ at Kestrel House in Devonshire ward, Eastbourne
  • Ran coding and making sessions for 180 students
  • Ran a “TechMatch” scheme to mentor ‘A’ level computer science students on real life projects (which won a SPARK award)
  • Convened a round table of local industry, education and government leaders
  • Helped Boho 2015 winter event participants with making skills
  • Ran #MondayMoney business support events
  • Ran #DigitalDrinks social events

 

2013 and 2014

Ran “Start up BBQ” event with Urban Industry boss Dan King

Launched #WiredEB socials series

Launched coding and making sessions staffed by volunteers and borrowed kit!

Mentored Theo to create NowScreen (now a Ltd company!)

Supported ‘Hour of Code’ event

Converted to a Community Interest Company (we started as a Ltd to get up and running quickly)
