Activities
Public sector suppliers must show how their work delivers social value — the additional economic, social, and environmental benefits for communities.
For many organisations, meeting those commitments is a challenge. TechResort can help.
We deliver proven social value in Eastbourne and across East Sussex, working in some of the most deprived neighbourhoods in the UK.
We can help you meet your obligations in three ways:
- Commission a project. Fund a TechResort programme that directly addresses your social value priorities — employment, digital inclusion, skills, or environmental sustainability
- Donate funding or equipment. We repurpose devices and distribute them to people who need them most
- Share your resources. Is there something your organisation does that would benefit our work? We’re happy to chat about possibilities.
We provide the data and evidence you need to report against your commitments.
The social value we deliver
We measure our impact using the Measure Up social value model. Here’s what this looks like in practice.
Employment and skills
We provide paid employment and work experience to local people facing barriers to work, including young people who are NEET and those in their first job. In 2024, we employed 3.9 FTE staff — all local — including 1.8 FTE young people and 2.8 FTE in first-time employment. Our work experience programme delivered 24.4 weeks for NEET young people and 44.8 weeks for those in further education. Two employees left us for full-time work elsewhere.
Digital inclusion
We run free drop-in sessions, one-to-one coaching, and digital skills support for older residents, people in financial difficulty, and those at risk of homelessness. In 2024, we recorded 1,140 encounters and 660 instances of digital help — 459 with people over 50, 132 with people in work, and 69 with people who were unemployed. In the first nine months of 2025-26, 350 encounters were with clients who are or at risk of homelessness.
Environmental sustainability
Our device repurposing scheme extends the life of laptops, smartphones, and tablets, keeping them out of landfill and putting them into the hands of people who cannot afford them. In 2025, we received 267 laptops and 235 smartphones; 73 laptops and 104 smartphones were repurposed and given out.
Wellbeing and community
Our drop-ins reduce loneliness and improve mental health by offering a welcoming, non-judgemental space. Almost 60% of our client interactions are with people we have seen before, and more than a quarter are regular users. Our IT facilities are free to use, and our centre has served as a warm space in winter.
