Our mission

Everyone needs high quality digital skills, now more than ever. TechResort is dedicated to making this happen

We were founded in 2013 and have come a long way since then. Many of our projects are based in our home town of Eastbourne, but we’re now doing a lot more across the UK. The need for digital skills is universal.

As a Community Interest Company, our profits and assets are used solely for the public good.

Our board of directors come from different parts of creative and digital industries. Most of the people who work for us also volunteer extra time, and everyone at TechResort is in it to do good.

How we work

TechResort has run all sorts of different projects over the years, and there’s a common thread running through all of them. We were able to quickly understand the underlying need that people had, and were able to provide something inexpensive and meaningful that helped.

We take a lean agile approach. When we spot a need, we’ll spend time with end users to properly understand what’s happening. Often we’ll create quick and cheap experiments to better understand the problem. Launching something small quickly delivers value early on, and gives us lots of feedback to make the next version better.

Here’s a good example. During the first Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, we noticed a local lack of personal protective equipment. TechResort had some 3D printers, and we tried fabricating visors on a small scale. We were able to find out very quickly that it was possible, and gave us confidence to invest our own money in a 3D printer farm.

TechResort takes the same pragmatic, tailored approach with all of our projects. It’s summed up in our motto: “how hard can it be?” We’re ready to roll our sleeves up and help with any digital or tech challenge.

The kind of work we do

  • working with schools, colleges and employers to link tech education to local skills needs
  • running hands-on workshops for people of all ages to enthuse them about the possibilities that creative and digital skills have to offer
  • helping with skills development for teachers, community volunteers, public sector staff and businesses
  • lending our skills and equipment to develop the practice of local artists who want to use more digital assets in their work
  • helping local entrepreneurs realise their designs and inventions with specialist help
  • directly employing local young people, helping them develop both technical and soft skills for their future employment
  • offering adults flexible work to accommodate health and other needs, to help them build their work

  • contributing to local, regional and national discussions on the subject of digital skills shortages and how to address them
