Last week Cohub hosted the Startup BBQ for startup businesses in Eastbourne who have established or early on in the ideas process. The event was well attended with around 50 entrepreneurs enjoying the evening sun and delicious BBQ on the Cohub balcony.
A really diverse group of people attended, from those running creative sessions for children, to a software company with a brand new product.
People attending were from various stages, from the ideas stage through to those who have launched and are trading successfully.
Speaking at the event was Dan King of Eastbourne-based Urban Industry.
Dan spoke about his journey from the very beginning, designing a clothing line in his bedroom, to running a multi-million pound empire from a large warehouse/shop just off Lottbridge Drove.
Dan spoke about the challenges he faced in the early days, running a shop in South Street and how Urban Industry developed into a mainly online business, due in a big way to the low foot fall in South Street and Grove Road.
The event provided an excellent relaxed networking opportunity with many sharing ideas and insights. The feedback from attendees has been really positive and based on this feedback there will be other events happening at Cohub for startups and those more established businesses.
